On May 20, 2026, the Chinese shipyard ZPMC in Qidong launched MV Wyspiański, the first vessel in a new series of modern heavy-lift multipurpose ships being built for Chipolbrok. Its sister ship, MV Chełmoński, was launched just days earlier.
The new class marks the next stage in the company’s fleet expansion following the recent delivery of MV Kopernik (62,000 DWT). The vessels are designed for transporting oversized and heavy project cargo, including offshore and wind-energy components. A distinctive feature is the forward-mounted superstructure, which maximizes cargo deck space.
Key specifications
- Length: 182 m
- Beam: 30 m
- Deadweight: approx. 37,450 DWT
- Service speed: 14.5 knots
- Three 350-ton deck cranes
- Tandem lifting capacity: up to 700 tons
The ships are specially built for the growing heavy-lift and offshore market, with large cargo holds capable of carrying massive industrial equipment and wind turbine components.
The naming tradition continues with references to famous Polish artists:
- Wyspiański honors Stanisław Wyspiański, a leading figure of Polish modernism and author of The Wedding (Wesele).
- Chełmoński is named after Józef Chełmoński, renowned for his paintings of rural life and nature.
Two additional vessels from the same series are already under construction at the ZPMC shipyard, supporting Chipolbrok’s strategy to strengthen its position in the global project cargo and heavy-lift market.
